Bagalkot, Dec 7: Former minister and Congress leader B B Chimmanakatti, speaking at an electoral campaign meeting at Badami, expressed the confidence of becoming an eminent politician again if he has the blessings of the electorate. At the same time, he questioned former chief minister Siddaramaiah, who was present at the dais, why he chose to leave his home constituency, Varuna in Mysuru, and took over Chimmanakatti's own constituency, Badami, in the last assembly election.

He said at the meeting that he had sacrificed his constituency in favour of Siddaramaiah. He told Siddaramaiah that the latter has multiple choices in the form of Chamundi and Varuna constituencies where has he himself has to be content with Badami. "I sacrificed the seat in his favour. But I believe that a person gets value when he wins in his home constituency," he commented.

As the fans supported him, there was confusion among the dignitaries and audience about what he was saying. Chimmanakatti became emotional when he said he had sacrificed his constituency in favour of Siddaramaiah. Some tried to stop him from speaking further. Some leaders switched off the mike and asked the former minister to stop speaking. Siddaramaiah, who was at the dais, visibly looked embarrassed by what Chimmanakatti said. After supporters of the two leaders started to raise slogans against each other, the police intervened and pacified them.
