Bengaluru: Manippady accuses govt of allowing corruption, atrocities on Muslims

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Dec 7: BJP spokesperson, Anwar Manippady, charged the state government of failing to prevent atrocities being unleashed on Muslims and in stopping irregularities of the Wakf Board. He called upon the Muslim legislators to resign on their own instead of becoming mute spectators.

Speaking at a press meet organized in the city, he said that the Wakf Board, which looks after property worth lacs for crores of rupees, has become a centre of corruption. "I have written several letters to the government on this issue, but there was no impact. Seven elected Muslim legislators in the state are not showing any concern. All the parties are concentrating on using Muslims as vote banks, not working for their development," he stated. He said that Wakf Board has committed irregularities worth crores of rupees in water filter purchase, and it has disbursed scholarship amounting to six crore rupees to educational institutions identified by courts as corrupt.

"Even though the high court quashed the election of president twice, the law minister, Wakf minister and advocate general together, illegally made Moulana Shafi Saadi as the Wakf board president. This is like handing over the key to the thief," he said. He also urged the government to settle issues like not permitting namaz in Sanjeevini Nagar, lack of space for burying bodies etc.
