Mangaluru: Court awards punishment to food corporation employee

Mangaluru, Dec 14: The third additional district and sessions court, through a judgment delivered on Monday December 13, awarded sentence to A V Rajan Nambiar, junior assistant working at Shaktinagar depot of the Food Corporation of India in a case of amassing wealth disproportionate to the known sources of income.

The Lokayukta had registered a case against the employee on January 28, 2014 in the Lokayukta police station. The police had conducted raid. Judge of the court, B B Jakati, who conducted the trial, announced simple imprisonment of six years to the accused. A fine of Rs 75 lac has also been imposed on him.

If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to remain inside the prison for two more years.

The prosecution was represented in this case by special public prosecutor Raveendra Munnippady.
