Mumbai: Sarala B Shetty (59) passes away

Mumbai, Dec 20: Sarala B Shetty (59) winner of Chatrapati Shivaji award and Maharashtra government’s Dadaji Kondadev award, International sportsperson, former president of Bombay Bunts association ladies wing, passed away after a massive heart attack at her Ghatkopar Damodar Park swagath cooperative society apartment on Sunday morning, December 19.

She hailed from Beladi, Karkala, undivided Udupi district and was a member of Indian weightlifting federation. She was the only female referee recognised by the government of Maharashtra. She was serving as the referee during national games weightlifting championships.

She has left behind her husband, two sons and a large number of friends and relatives. Her family sources have informed that her last rites will be performed at her home town.
