Sullia: Cheque bounce case proved - Man fined Rs 4.1 lac

Sullia, Dec 23: As the cheque bounce case filed was proved, the court has awarded punishment to the accused.

In this case, Pramod Kumar D H from Kannadakaje Devamane in Devachalla village had borrowed four lac rupees from Balakrishna P L from Pattemane, Taloor. Towards repayment of the loan, he had issued two cheques of two lac rupees each drawn on Citizens Cooperative Bank Rajajinagar Bengaluru. Both the cheques were dishonoured for want of funds. Balakrishna had filed a case in the court of civil judge (senior division) Sullia under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Judge of the court, Somshekhar, who heard the case, fined the accused Rs 4.1 lac. If he fails to pay the said fine, he has been ordered to undergo a jail sentence of six months.
