Kasargod: Customs squad arrests man in possession of 3.3 kg gold

Kasargod, Dec 24: The Kasargod customs squad has arrested Kolhapur-based Mahesh (25), after recovering 6.5 kg gold worth Rs 3.3 crore which he had concealed inside a secret shelf inside his car.

The recovery was made after a squad led by Kasargod customs commissioner Vikas, stopped the car with Mahesh inside it. The car was stopped and searched on Wednesday night near the Chandragiri bridge. During the inspection, the gold was found.

It is suspected that the gold was smuggled in through Kannur airport and it was planned to be taken to Maharashtra. Customs assistant commissioner Vikas E, customs superintendent Rajev P P and divisional superintendent Haris P K were among the members of the customs squad which conducted the above raid.
