Kasargod, Dec 25: Director general of police of the state, Anil Kant, issued instructions to the district police superintendents of the state to take strict action against social websites found to be spreading falsehood and malaise.

He noted that the police have been asked to keep a close watch on social websites functioning in all the districts in the light of the political murder cases. He wanted the officials to keep close vigil on those who spread false information and share them. He advised the superintendents of police to act against the admins of such websites.

These instructions were given after observing that messages which have the potential of spreading communal hatred have been spreading in large numbers after the murders of BJP and SDPI leaders.
