Mumbai: Police arrest two for extorting money in guise of NCB sleuths

Mumbai, Dec 27: Police arrested two men, including a actor of Bhojpuri movies for extorting money from public in the guise of NCB sleuths.

A Bhojpuri movie actress was found dead in his flat apparently by suicide at Jogeshwari area. The Amboli police unearthed during the investigation that the arrested duo had demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lac from him which led her suicide.

The arrested accused are Suran and Pravesh, residing in the city. It is known through investigation that the accused met the victim at a rave party. They posed as NCB sleuths and demanded Rs 40 lac from her in order to keep her participation in the rave party a secret. Later they brought down the amount of ransom to Rs 20 lac. A third person by the name Arif Ghazi, who was with the actress at the party is also involved in the crime. He is absconding at present.

Unable to bear the shame if publicized, the actress killed herself in her flat on Thursday, according to the information shared with the media by Ambroli police.
