Congress party’s 137th Foundation Day celebrated at Shivapura in Mandya

Bengaluru, Dec 28: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee observed the Congress party’s 137th Foundation Day at Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha in Maddur of Mandya district on Tuesday.

Shivapura village attracted national attention after a large group of local farmers hoisted the national flag in 1938 and gave a call for the country’s freedom from British rule, which is revered by the people. A Satyagraha Soudha was constructed to commemorate the Shivapura flag hoisting and the building was inaugurated in 1979.

KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar participated in the Congress Seva Dal Flag hoisting function and also took part in the procession of party workers.

Former Chief Minister M Veerappa Moily, former Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar, KPCC Working Presidents Saleem Ahmed, B Ramalinga Reddy, Dhruvanarayan, former ministers T B Jayachandra, Motamma, H M Revanna, H C Mahadevappa, Umashree, N Cheluvatayaswamy, Narendra Swamy, MLC B K Hariprasad, Dinesh Gooligouda, Seva Dal State President Ramachandra, Mahila Congress Chief Pushpa Amaranath, party leaders M S Atmananda, Gurucharan, Mandya district Congress president C D Gangadhar and several other party.
