Mumbai, Dec 30: SBI branch in Gurukul Society of Dahisar West was robbed at gun point by two masked men on Wednesday. They fled away with Rs 2.5 lac in cash and also shot dead Sandesh Gomane (25) an outsource employee working for the bank.

The bank robbers asked a clerk as to where the bank lockers are after taking Rs 2.5 lac from the cashier. However, they left without taking anything from the locker.

The deceased outsourced employee lived in Virar and was unmarried. His brothers rushed to the hospital only to know that Gomane is no more.

One of the police officers said that the bank does not have a security guard for the past one year and that might be the reason the bank was targeted. Majority of the staff is female in the branch and it is a small one. Eight employees were present when the heist took place.

The city police have made eight teams to nab the robbers. Crime branch is also doing a concurrent investigation. The cops suspect that the robbers must be amateurs and must have shot Gomane in panic.
