Mumbai, Jan 1: A 10-year-old boy was beaten to death by his father on the accusation of stealing Rs 50 from home. This crime was reported from Kalwa in Thane of the state.
Police were alerted by the residents of the slum area of Waghoba Nagar that Omprakash Prajapati (41), had killed his son who was lying dead on the floor.
Though the boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead. According to the statement of the sister of the deceased boy, the father hit the son repeatedly for stealing money, which caused his death.
Police arrested the father and are investigating the mother of the deceased boy, who was not present at home during the crime.
A case in this connection is registered in Kalwa police station.
