Bengaluru: Liquor worth Rs 975 crore sold amidst night curfew

Bengaluru, Jan 1: Compared to last two years, the sale of liquor has increased by 13% in the state. In the last eight days Rs 975 crore of liquor is sold in Karnataka. During Covid, the revenue earned for the same period was Rs 878 crore.

During the first wave of corona sales worth Rs 844 crore had occurred. Now it is increased by 13 percent.

In 2019 on the last day of the year liquor worth Rs 163 crore was sold. In 2020 the corresponding figure was Rs 153 crore. In 2021 Rs 165 crore worth liquor is sold.

Every year the sales of liquor will be highest in the month of December. However, in 2019 and 2020 it was less due to Covid lockdown.

Liquor lovers started queuing up outside outlets selling liquor right from the morning of December 31. As there were restrictions after 10 pm, they had to buy the required stock in time. Night parties and outings were cancelled because of the night curfew imposed by the government.
