Bantwal, Jan 10: Hindu Jagarana Vedike has given a call for Vittal Bandh on Tuesday January 11 to condemn the police inaction against a groom who appeared in Koragajja Daiva costumes and danced at a marriage party. The incident had happened in Salethur, Kolnadu village.

The Vedike has decried the police inability to arrest the accused. It noted that the accused, through a video recorded in an unknown destination, had tendered an apology. The Vedike says that the police have clues about the whereabouts of the accused but are hesitant in arresting him. Therefore it has called for a voluntary Vittal bandh from 6 am to 12 pm on Tuesday. It is learnt that a protest meeting is planned in the afternoon.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has also demanded for the arrest of the people involved with this incident and to book them.

On Sunday, a special puja was organized at Korambadka Sri Adi Mogerkala Daivsthana, seeking punishment to the persons who insulted Sri Koragajja Daiva. Later prayers were offered at Boodu Koragajja Katte at Bellare. Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal Sullia also offered prayers at Koragajja Daiva at Kurunjibagh Sullia. Chandra Moger, district coordinator of the Samiti, also demanded to enact rules against sacrilegious acts.
