Ashwath pays homage to Shastri, recalls his ideals and contribution

Bengaluru, Jan 11: Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his death anniversary.

Dr Narayan, who deputised for Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai following the latter being under isolation after being tested positive for Covid 19, placed a wreath of flowers before the statue of Shastri in front of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

“Shastri was an embodiment of high ideals, noble thinking and simple living and his life will always be a role model for the people,’’ he said.

The minister recalled the service and contribution of Shastri for nation building and mentioned the former Prime Minister was inspired by the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. He was a farsighted leader and a great statesman, Dr Narayan said.

Dr Narayan also lauded the importance given by Shastri for farmers and the soldiers in the service and protection of the country.
