Kasargod, Jan 12: A cheating case has been registered against M D Mahfooz, a contractor from Bevinje Tekkil Ferry in Vidyanagar police station here. He has been accused of raising a loan of Rs 4.17 crore from a bank by creating fake documents.

In a complaint filed with the police, manager of the South Indian Bank's Cherkala branch, Satish Kumar, said that various documents including papers relating to a site in Kallar village, location sketch, PWD power of attorney and some other fake documents were provided by the said contractor to them, on the basis of which loan was sanctioned.
