Bengaluru: Sigh of relief as only six percent infected are hospitalised

Bengaluru, Jan 12: The health department said that as compared to previous coronavirus waves, the admission rate of infected people into the hospitals this time has been under control. It added that only six percent of the infected people have got admitted into hospitals for treatment.

It is learnt that during the last ten days till January 11, coronavirus infection was confirmed in 62,691 people. As many as 3,761 forming six percent have got hospitalized. One percent infected people were admitted and treated in Covid care centres. The balance over 57,000 patients forming 93 percent are under home care. Compared to previous waves, this time the rate of hospitalization has been considerably low, the health officials admitted.

Between April 14 and 22, the first days of the second wave, 1.27 lac were infected and 30 percent were hospitalized. Six percent people were admitted into corona care centres and 61 percent were under home care. From May 7 and 14 when the infection rate was at its zenith, 3.1 lac were infected, 22 percent were hospitalised and five percent were treated in Covid care centres. 74 percent were in home care. Between December 1 and 12, 2021, 3,151 were infected, out of which 23 percent were hospitalized and three percent were treated in corona care centres. As much as 93 percent were in home care, the health department stated.
