Bengaluru: Dr G L Hegde appointed president of Karnataka Yakshagana Academy

Bengaluru, Jan 13: Dr G L Hegde Manaki frorm Kumta, Uttara Kannada district, has been appointed as the president of Karnataka Yakshagana Academy. The academy functions under Kannada and culture department.

The order issued on Wednesday January 12 has come in from immediate affect and will be in force until further orders.

The academy had remained without a head after the then president of the academy, M A Hegde, passed away about eight months back due to Covid. Dr Hegde is a Yakshagana artiste and an accomplished Arthadhari of Talamaddale. He has authored a number of works including Yakshagana Varna Vaibhava, Sheni Ramayana, Namma Chittani and study on Halakki.
