Mangaluru, Jan 31: “The areas in our border are the foundation for harmonious life. There should be no enmity between languages. Our languages and culture can be preserved when we identify our authors, artists, journalists and talents. This way the service to Kannada should be continuous,” said deputy leader of the Congress Legislature party in the state legislative assembly, MLA and former minister U T Khader.

He was speaking after inaugurating Kannada Jagruti cultural festival held at Krishna mantapa auditorium, Talapady, Thokkottu, the state border by Karnataka state border development authority and Manjunath education trust, Mangaluru.

METM president K P Manjunath Sagar chaired the programme. Puttur municipal council’s Madhu S Manohar was the chief guest. Swamy enterprises Bengaluru managing director G N Swamy, Rotary club Mandankap unit president Elias Sanctis, forest officer Somashekar Hipparagi and Guruprasad Kotekar were on the dais.

Karavali Samskritika Prathistana Kasargod president Shivarama Kasargod welcomed and gave an introduction. Archana Bangera Kumpala and Keerthana Sanil compered the programme. Journalist Arif Deralakatte rendered vote of thanks.

Kannada poetry, group dances by Ramanath Samskritika Bhavana group Kasargod, Janapada dances from Saroja Rao and group, Mangaluru and other cultural programmes were held.
