Bengaluru: Controversy - Towing of erring vehicles suspended temporarily

Bengaluru, Feb 1: In the light of the incidents of friction between the police and the general public relating to towing away of vehicles found violating traffic rules increasing, towing of vehicles in the city has been temporarily suspended.

After chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, issued a statement saying that the towing system will be revamped, city joint police commissioner, B R Ravikanthe Gowda, held a meeting on Monday January 31 with the participation of deputy commissioners of police, assistant commissioners of police and other police officers. Later, a meeting was presided over by the chief minister.

A senior police officer said that in the light of increasing opposition from the people, towing has been temporarily suspended in the city till a decision is taken.
