Mangaluru, Feb 7: The temple towns and tourist destinations in Dakshina Kannada district were teeming with crowds during this weekend. The people are making the best use of relaxations in Covid norms extended by the government.

Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple witnessed a mass marriage function on Sunday February 6 where 35 couples tied the knots. About 5,000 took part in the community feast arranged at the temple. There was a rush of vehicles in the town but traffic was handled efficiently and therefore the people did not face problems on this count.

Kollur in Udupi district was visited by over 5,000 devotees on Sunday. About 3,500 consumed the food at the temple. Executive officer, Mahesh, looked after the arrangements.

Beaches of the two districts including Malpe, Panambur and Padubidri saw huge crowds. Both Udupi and Mangaluru cities saw large number of people's movement on Sunday. A large number of auspicious functions were also arranged on Sunday.

Dharmasthala, Subrahmanya and Sowthadka, the three other well-known centres of worship also were frequented by thousands of devotees.
