Mangaluru: ICYM Vamanjoor unit organizes 'Ekvat Cup 2022' - Inter-ward tournament

Mangaluru, Feb 7: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Vamanjoor unit organized an Inter-Ward cricket and lagori tournament, 'Ekvat Cup 2022' on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the St Joseph The worker’s Church ground.

The inaugural programme began at 8.45 am. Arith Pinto welcomed the gathering. The guest of honour for the programme was Pradeep Dsouza, deputy director of the department of Youth Empowerment and Sports. Fr James D'souza, parish priest of Vamanjoor church and ICYM director; Fr Santhosh D'souza, assistant parish priest. Rohan Periera vice president and Anitha Colaco secretary of Parish Pastoral Council. Arith Pinto ICYM president and Rishant Fernandes sports secretary were the dignitaries on the dais.

There were 17 Cricket and 9 Lagori teams who had participated in the 'Ekvat Cup 2022'. A large number of people gathered to support and encourage their team. It was an event in which people from Inter-ward of Vamanjoor parish got an opportunity to come together under one roof.

The valedictory programme was held at 6:20 pm, Fr James D'souza praised all the ICYM members for all the efforts they had taken in conducting these sports events and also congratulated all the winners of the 'Ekvat Cup 2022'. Ashton Lobo proposed the vote of thanks. Prizes were handed over by the guests to the successful teams.

Cricket: Winners - Devarapadav ward
Runners - Vamanjoor/Nithyadar ward

Lagori: Winners - Nirala ward
