Udupi, Feb 7: “Provide education to the students according to their constitutional right to education,” organisation Sahabalve Udupi has requested the state government.

“Students have been coming to schools wearing Burkha and Bindi for the past several years. They have started wearing saffron now. There is an environment of conflict in the district. The state government also wants it. It wants to use the situation to win the next elections. It has not tried to dilute the situation. Allow whatever the students have been wearing in the free country for the last several years. Let students get a respectful welcome in the colleges. If they wear any colours that are not found in the uniform, first call their parents and advise them,” requested Sahabalve president Amrath Shenoy to the government. “Is the government afraid that they are losing votes of one group? Solve the Hijab and saffron row soon,” he said.

“There is a chief minister that has introduced a communal policy in the second episode of BJP. He is meddling with the school uniform after raking up the religious conversion issue. The government is trying to use all the means to intrduce communal policies,” said Dalit leader Sunder Master expressing anguish.

“The local MLA are magnifying small matters. People know the ill effects of safronization. Prepare an atmosphere of harmony in schools. The P U Board has released new orders when the case is still pending in the High court. It is illegal,” said Sunder Master.
