Dharwad: SC rejects former minister's petition against CBI investigation

Daijiworld Media Network - Dharwad (SP)

Dharwad, Feb 8: The Supreme Court (SC), on Monday February 7, dismissed the petition filed by former minister, Vinay Kulkarni, questioning the government's action in recommending Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation against him. It may be recalled that Kulkarni of the Congress has been named as an accused in the case of murder of BJP zilla panchayat member, Yogeesh Gowda, in 2016.

The state government had entrusted the case to CBI in 2019. Vinay Kulkarni had questioned this decision in the high court but it had refused to entertain it. Therefore he had knocked at the doors of the Supreme Court.

Kulkarni had been kept in the Hindalga prison for about nine months relating to the case. He was later released on bail with certain restrictions including barring his visit to Dharwad district.
