Mangaluru: Konkani Natak Sabha celebrates feast of St Don Bosco

Mangaluru, Feb 17: The feast of St Don Bosco, Patron saint of The Konkani Natak Sabha was celebrated at renovated Don Bosco Hall here on Wednesday, February 16 evening.

The celebration began with the thanksgiving Eucharistic Mass. PRO of Mangalore Diocese and parish priest of Bejai church Fr J B Saldanha was the chief celebrant. Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza, president of Konkani Natak Sabha, Fr Fredrick Rodrigues, Fr Francis Fernandes, Fr Steevan D'Souza, Fr Prakash Colaco were the cocelebrants.

After the holy mass, a programme was organised to felicitate Fr J B Saldanha who was recently appointed as the PRO of Mangalore Diocese, Thereafter KNS President Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza was felicitated for having completed 25 years of his priesthood and his dedicated contribution towards the development of Konkani Natak Sabha in general and Don Bosco Hall in particular.

Fr J B Saldanha said, "Bejai parish and St Anne's Friary share a cordial relationship. To make this bond stronger, I wholeheartedly accepted the invitation to be a part of this celebration." He also added that every member of the Sabha present here, irrespective of their age, are artists by their own calibre. He wished Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza all the success in his future missions.

KNS President Fr Paul Melwyn D'Souza said, "In Feb 2021, we had started the renovation work of Don Bosco Hall and now after one year we have successfully completed the renovation with the help of the donors and well wishers of the Sabha." He thanked the executive committee,managing committee and every member of the Sabha for their support towards the renovation project. He also requested everyone to give the same support and cooperation in the days to come.

A small token of appreciation was given to all the artists of 'K D Bona BA' drama which was enacted on the occasion of the 78th Annual Day Celebration of KNS on February 13.

As a part of the entertainment, a short cultural programme and various games were conducted by Joseph Theodore.

President Fr Paul Melwyn D’Souza gave the message of the feast. Vice president Liston Derrick D'souza welcomed the gathering, General secretary Floyd D'Mello compered the programme Treasurer Gerald Concessao proposed a vote of thanks Joint secretary Praveen Rodrigues assisted with the executive committee. Large number of members of the Sabha and artists of 'K D Bona BA' drama participated in the celebration.

The programme concluded with singing of the KNS anthem followed by a dinner.
