Bengaluru, Feb 20: An ambitious project has been drawn up to introduce Tunga Arathi on the banks of river Tungabhadra in Harihar similar to the popular Ganga Arathi in Northern India by constructing 108 yoga mantaps, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said in Harihar of Davangere district on Sunday, February 20.

Harihar would be developed into a major tourist and pilgrim destination in the coming days, he said while speaking to media persons at Harihar.

Sri Vachananda Jagadguru has created a very pleasant ambience in the area by organising a clean-up campaign, he noted.

“Facilities are being created for daily puja and Arathi to river Tungabhadra. There are plans to clean up the entire area and develop a walking-path on both sides of the river bridge. It would be completed and dedicated to the people soon,” Bommai said.

All round development of Harihar

He said 40 kms of roads were being created in Harihar and various other infrastructural facilities also developed to make it a major pilgrim centre and tourist attraction.

The Chief Minister visited the Harakshethra of the Panchamasali Jagadguru Peetha and got the blessings of Sri Vachananda Jagadguru.

Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani, Urban Development Minister B A Basavaraj, BJP MP G M Siddeshwar, Minister Shankar Patil Munenakoppa and MLA Aruna Kumar were among those present.
