Puttur, Feb 21: After two cars got involved with a collision at Mandyagana near Kaup on Mani - Mysuru national highway, a person died on the spot while two others suffered serious injuries. The accident happened on Sunday February 20.

An i20 car and a Swift car were involved in the accident. The driver of the i20 car died in the accident. He has been identified as Raju from Madikeri. Jyothi from Bijai suffered serious injuries. She was admitted into a hospital in Mangaluru. Netravati, Baby Poojary and Chetan, whose nature of injuries was minor, were admitted into the Puttur hospital.

Driver of the Swift car, Moideen Kunhi from Kaikamba and some others also were injured. The family from Bijai had visited Talakaveri and on their return journey the said accident happened.

At this spot, four had died after a car plunged into a roadside pond at this spot two years back. Even though safety measures were undertaken thereafter, accidents have been happening here regularly.
