Sullia: Girl student who mistook rat poison as toothpaste dies

Sullia, Feb 22: A girl student who had been admitted into a hospital about a week back after falling ill breathed her last without responding to treatments. The incident happened on Sunday, February 20.

The deceased student was Shravya (17), daughter of Berike Ramesh from Markanja village.

Shravya was a PU student studying in a college in Puttur. A week back, she had mistakenly used rat poison as toothpaste. As the poisonous substances got ingested into the body, she fell ill.

The family members rushed her to a hospital in Mangaluru immediately. However, without responding to efforts made to save her life, Shravya passed away on Sunday. She has left behind parents and a brother.

On the basis of a complaint filed by her father in Sullia police station, a case of unnatural death was registered.
