Bengaluru, Mar 26: The officials posted to examination centres for the SSLC examinations now have a new headache. They do not know whether the students who appear as private candidates, repeaters and Muslim girls who appear for the examination as private candidates can wear the Hijabs when appearing for the examination.

As per the high court verdict, Hijabs cannot be worn other than the uniforms prescribed by the school development and monitoring committees of the government and aided schools and colleges. If the committees of private schools have decided to wear the Hijab as part of the uniform, such students do not get affected by the high court judgement.

A few private English medium schools in Udupi have SSLC examination centres. They are facing the confusion about allowing the Hijabs. State education minister B C Nagesh, has said that Hijabs are strictly prohibited.

The parents wish that officials of the education department will provide clarification on these issues today so that the students do not have to tackle problems on the day they appear for the examination on Monday.
