Bantwal, Feb 3: A man was found murdered with his skull crushed in by a boulder in a plantation in Kariangala, near here, on Wednesday February 2. 
 
The deceased person has been identified as 33-year-old Praveen Miranda alias Benedict Miranda, a resident of Mittakodi in Kariangala village.
 
The dead body of Praveen was found in the plantation owned by a certain G Sadanand Rai, a few kilometers away. 
 
Praveen was earlier involved in knifing the locals Shekar and Niranjan during ‘Polali Jatra in 2009 and the court sentenced him to jail for a few months and was released later.
 
Police sources said that Praveen might have been involved in a fight on the night of Tuesday February 1, and was killed by his rivals. 
 
Puttur ASP Dr Amit Singh paid a visit to the crime spot.  Further investigations are on under the leadership of circle inspector Nanjunde Gowda assisted by Bantwal rural police sub-inspector Rafiq Tahsildar.
