Udupi, Feb 3: Vivekananda Prabhu (46), a bachelor, has filed a complaint in Manipal police station, about fraud committed on him by a woman from Mumbai, after kindling in him a hope of marriage.

Prabhu, a resident of Shivalli Rajiv Nagar here, says that he was on the look out for an ideal life partner, when he got in touch with Neeta R Borkar, House No. B-003, B Wing, Stars Status Cooperative Society, Virar, Mumbai, through Shaadi.com website. The two exchanged information, got in touch, became friendly, and the lady expressed her intention to marry him, he has stated.

Neeta reportedly visited the house of Vivekanand on December 19, 2010. She said she was in a crisis, and sought monetary assistance of Rs 3.5 lac. She promised to marry him, once the crisis blows over. He trusted her, and paid Rs 3.5 lac to the lady on December 26.

To his dismay, Prabhu found that Neeta never contacted him again, and did not even return his money. After making efforts in this connection, he came to a conclusion that she was a fraudster, and her promises of marriage were deceitful.

A case of fraud has also been filed in a court here by Prabhu.
