Bantwal: Cars collide in Mani killing one Bengaluru resident, injuring four

Bantwal, Apr 10: A man was killed and four others were injured in an accident between two cars on the National Highway-75 near Mani on Sunday, April 10 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Lakshman Achary (65), a resident of Bengaluru.

Prajwal (22) who was driving the car from Bengaluru in which four others were travelling, was seriously injured in the accident.

It is said that Lakshman Achary was on his way to his home town to invite people for his daughter’s wedding. The car which was travelling from Mangaluru towards Mysuru accidentally entered the Bengaluru road and proceeded along the Mani junction before the accident occurred at Boodolli. With the help of Vittal Friends, the vehicle was quickly sent to the nearest police station. Vittal police have registered a case and are investigating.

    People who drives a car in highway always think that he will is flying and can reach destination well within time, but vidhi will play its own role, It is highly difficulty to a decent driver to drive in highway in today's situation, people are going in a such a high speed not bothering about others who drives carefully sensibily on road, and those who reach safe is the lukyiest one in todays world.

    Killer wheels - not accidents -- murders on highways--- most of the time -- There is no concentrated driving -- disturbed by music -- mobile phones -- chatting etc etc -- licenses issued without proper tests - -training -- Highway driving is different from City driving -- more so in our conditions -- (STRAY DOGS __ BULLOCK CARTS __ CYCLES -- TRACTORS -- NO SIDE WALLS -- sudden hazards -- etc etc --) -- ----------------------- At about 80 km/ hr one needs 140 ft stopping distance -- half a foot ball field -- driver reaction etc to be factored -- Authorities leave half completed roads with no proper signs -- no One way sign -- as it appears in this case -- Of course -- main reason -- high speed reckless driving -- Cars / vehicles have a device called BRAKE -- & if needed horn -- -- even this is not sufficient to avoid collisions means something terribly wrong --

    India is one of the road accidents toppers of the world... neither mo na nor motu nor gadhakari nor nagpur ghulaamas talk about this harsh stark reality... the concept of road safety is left to the drivers, no monitoring or support system to ensure road safety...

    Good roads will not necessarily guarantee safety unless those using them are responsible. Travel time will reduce by 2023 between Mangalore and Bangalore. But, there won't be another chance to learn based on one's mistake and start the journey all over again. Better decide that I will exercise control over my life on this earth viz., I will always indulge in safe driving.
