Mangalore: Prof SVP Memorial Award for Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar

Mangalore, Feb 4: Well-known Kannada litterateur, cine director, and organizer, Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar, has been chosen for the state level ‘Prof SVP Memorial’ award for 2011. He has been selected for the award by Prof S V Parameshwara Bhat Memorial Committee. This committee, of which Erya Lakshminarayan Alva is the president, was formed by the children of the late Prof S V Parameshwara Bhat, his students, and the fans, in 2002.

The award comprises cash component of Rs 10,000. Chandrashekhar, a native of Mandya district, had also worked as lecturer for 15 years. He has penned over 30 works in varied subjects like short stories, novels, travelogues, columns etc.

Nagathihalli has been chosen for the award, considering his contributions to the field of culture. The award function will be held on February 8, which happens to be the birth anniversary of SVP, at 5.30 pm at the auditorium of Canara College in the city. On the same day, a workshop on ‘Sahityanusandhana’ will be conducted for the students from colleges affiliated to Mangalore University in association with Ankita Publications Bangalore, said Erya Lakshminarayan Alva, in a release.
