Bantwal, May 15: Punjalakatee police confiscated a vehicle and rescued three cows that were being taken to slaughterhouse illegally. However, the traffickers managed to escape from the spot after pushing down PSI Suthesh KP. The incident occurred at 4.30 am on Sunday, May 15 at Kudkoli junction.
As per the details, PSI Suthesh K P was on night rounds and got definite information of cattle is being transported illegally in a vehicle that is going to Kudkoli from Vamadapadavu. PSI Suthesh along with two head constables reached Elpelu in Kukkuppadi village and started checking passing vehicles. Around 4.15 am, a mini tempo that was being driven at high speed approached them. The police waved at the tempo to stop but it did not and police chased them in jeep and waylaid near Kudkoli junction.

The accused got down from the vehicle and began to run. PSI Suthesh tried to catch hold of them. But they pushed him. Even the head constables could not catch the culprits and they made good their escape from the spot.
The police confiscated the vehicle and found three cows tied in an inhumane manner inside the vehicle. It is suspected that these were stolen from somewhere. The value of the cows is said to be around Rs 20,000 and the value of the Tata mini goods tempo is around Rs 6 lac. Two Vivo brand mobiles that were inside the tempo are also confiscated and the value of them is Rs 20,000.
A case is registered in this connection at Punjalakatte police station.
