Bantwal: 65-year-old man ends life by jumping into Netravathi river

Bantwal, Jun 3: A person ended his life by jumping into the Netravathi river from the old bridge at Goodu near Panemangaluru on Thursday, June 2.

The deceased has been identified as Monappa (65), a resident of Naati in Narikombu village. Monappa was a pump operator in Narikombu Grama Panchayat providing drinking water to residents. The reason for his suicide is not known.

Some locals saw Monappa jumping into the river before swimmers Siddiq M K, Shamsheer, Satya, Ezharuddin, Ameen, Inayat, Ismail Arabi jumped into the river to save him. By the time Monappa could be rescued, he had breathed his last.

A case has been registered by the Bantwal police.
