Kundapur, June 3: Following demands for construction of road from Hangaluru gram panchayat main road till the residence of Ganapu Devadiga, Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty has assured that he will provide an additional Rs 12 lacs from the MLA’s funds for the works.

The delegation under the leadership of Hangaluru gram panchayat president Anand Poojary called on the MLA on Friday and put forth the demand of the villagers. The MLA who responded to it on the spot assured them of fulfilling their demand.

If the road is constructed from the main street till the residence of Sadananda Shetty, rainwater is likely to remain stagnant near the houses of local people causing floods and problems to the school children and agricultural activities.

Therefore, the villagers had staged protests in front of the gram panchayat on Thursday demanding development of the road from the main road till the residence of Ganapu Devadiga.

Former member of taluk panchayat Manju Billava, Hangaluru gram panchayat member Steven D’ Costa, Sathish Sheregar, local villagers Chandra Devadiga, Vishwanath Devadiga, Sheshayya Sherigar, Raghavendra Sherigar, Narasimha Ganiga, Ananda Poojary, Narayan and Santhosh were present.
