Bantwal: Complaints from citizens pile up during DC’s visit

Bantwal, June 21: Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra visited Bantwal on Tuesday, June 21 as a part of the Jilladhikari Nade Halliya Kadege programme and received grievances from people at B C Road Taluk Mini Vidhana Soudha. A huge number of grievances came to him.

The land owners complained that they did not receive suitable compensation for the land provided by them for B C Road – Punjalkatte National Highway. The DC assured of special efforts for payment.

Yakshagana artiste Sarapady Ashok Shetty led delegation said that Sauharda bridge progress work across Netravati river in between Ajilamogaru – Kadeshivalaya was too slow. They urged for suitable compensation for farmers affected by rotting disease due to stagnant water at A M R Dam, Shambhoor. A full time doctor was requested for Daivastala health centre. A villager said that there was only one village accountant for Sarapadi and the residents were facing hardships. DC said that 90 village accountants were needed for the district and the government has been requested for them.

Boat and sand missing:

“The boat and sand seized during a raid by the department of geology a few days ago are stolen but the accused are not nabbed,” complained Maninalkoor Gram Panchayat members under the leadership of president Nagaveni. There were complaints from a delegation that there were no doctors and assistants in Daivastala health centre who requested for appointment of health workers. The DC said that the matter would be brought to the notice of the concerned. A delegation of rickshaw drivers under the leadership of Vishwanath Chandthimar complained that shade-giving trees were cut at Allipade.

Former zilla panchayat member Tungappa Bangera urged for the resumption of the Tumbe water supply unit. The horticulture officer provided suitable information. Former taluk panchayat member Somappa Kotian requested for an information centre for ordinary people at Taluk Saudha. The DC directed the tahsildar to do the needful.

People urged for a crematorium in the land allotted for it at Sharada Nagar, Sajipamunnor village.

Bantwal taluk farmer’s association president M Subrahmanya Bhat submitted a petition requesting compensation for victims who lost their lands to Tumbe dam. The DC assured of identifying the land and payment of suitable compensation.

The DC objected to constructing a pink toilet at the entrance of B C Road taluk Mini Saudha and asked council engineer Dominic D’Mello to construct it elsewhere. There were suggestions to shift the taluk office from Mini Vidhana Soudha and to construct a paid parking or toilets in its place. The DC inspected a temporary taluk office building and pink toilet under construction before leaving.

Assistant commissioner Madan Mohan, tahsildar Dr Smita Ramu and various taluk level officers were present.
