Udupi, Aug 1: Udupi district Muslim Ookkuta has urged the government to end the discrimination against the minorities and behave as a government of the people of the entire six crore population of the state.

The president of the muslim body Kota Ibrahim Saheb said neighbouring district of Dakshina Kannada had lost three precious lives of youths - Masood, Praveen and Fazil - due to the vendetta politics. The murder of these youths have put their families in grief and in a state of shock as they were all breadwinners for their families.

The Ookkutta said the society is living in a state of tension and fear due to hatred and misgivings among the commoners.

The Ookkutta has condemned the acts of killing and the lacuna in government security.

Saheb said the state government's 'impartial' stance on the issue remains in doubt. "The state administration has plunged itself into darkness after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's affinity to one community by visiting the house of one of the slain youths belonging to one community. The chief minister had announced a compensation to Praveen's who was murdered after Masood and had only visited Praveen's family which is condemnable. The chief minister has not announced any compensation to Fazil's family who was also killed," Saheb said.

The Muslim body said the government was showing eagerness to nab the killers who had murdered Praveen but was not serious about finding the killers of Masood and Fazil.

The Muslim body has urged the government to restore peace and harmony at the earliest and added all the anti-social elements should be brought to book and a thorough inquiry conducted against them.
