Mangaluru, Aug 1: MLA U T Khader has lashed out at the state government for being biased by visiting residence of Praveen and giving compensation only to his family while Chief Minister Bommai did not pay visit to residences of Fazil and Masood and did not announce any compensation to their families.

Congress will legally fight against the government’s biased policy, he said.

“Three murders have taken place in the last 10 days. If government has the desire to curtail communal violence then the government should bring an ordinance on communal violence act,” he said.

MLA Khader said the state government has shown interest in bringing in farmers act and laws pertaining to love jihad. “There is a need for harmony in the state and it is inevitable to curtail communal violence. The chief minister has given a statement with regard to use of bulldozers and start an encounter including seizure of properties of the accused,” he said.

MLA Khader said only one case has been referred to the NIA, while the two cases have not been given to the NIA for obvious political gains.

He said free hand needs to be given to cops and there should not be any interference in their functioning. “Police have failed to act as the situation went out of control during Praveen’s funeral. “What message does the government want to convey by transferrring local police station inspectors?” he asked.
