Minister Ashwath promises precautions, suitable arrangements for Ganesh festival

Bengaluru, Aug 21: Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has promised that suitable precautions and adequate arrangements for immersion of Ganesha idols have been made for this year Ganesha Chaturti festival this year.

In the Malleswaramam assembly constituency, which is represented by the minister, the police and BBMP have made suitable arrangements for installation of Ganesha idols, processions and immersions. The Fire Brigade has also been asked to be on the stand by, he said.

Holding a meeting of officials at the Malleswaram BWSSB office, he said arrangements are being made for immersion of idols in the Sankey Tank. In view of the crowding at the Sankey Tank, he said police have been asked to make arrangements for one-way traffic flow from Sankey Tank to Bhashyam Circle on the first three days.

Dr Narayan said the public must be educated to install environment friendly mud or clay idols of Ganesha in their residences or outside. Arrangements to collect the flowers and garlands and prevent them being thrown in the Sankey Tank must also be taken, he said.

The minister later went round his constituency in the Mathikere area and met the local people to hear their grievances.
