Logo and website of Udupi on 25th anniversary of district creation released

Udupi, Aug 22: The logo and website of the Udupi district was unveiled on the occasion of the district completing 25 years of its creation. The logo was unveiled by Udupi MLA Raghuathi Bhat. Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon unveiled the website.

MLA Raghupathi Bhat said that a 75-kilometre long Agnipath rally will be held to attract young people to the army. “About 500 students will take part in it,” he said.

“The procession that will be held on August 25 at 3 pm from Udupi board high school till Ajjarkad maidan will have about 5,000 to 6,000 college students, representatives of various organizations, elected representative that served in the panchayat offices during the last 25 years and representatives of local bodies taking part. The programme will be inaugurated by Karnataka state governor Thawar Chand Gehlot,” Raghupathi Bhat said.

“The MLAs who were present during the formation of the district in 1997 will be the special invitees. Suitable arrangements have been made at Ajjarkad maidan for the arrival of about 15,000 people. The programmes will incur an expenditure of Rs 80 lacs to Rs 1 crore. A programme in this connection will be held on the 25th of every month and the concluding programme will be held on January 25, 2023,” he said.

A meeting of local sanghas to obtain their suggestions, cooperation and participation was also held.

Udupi deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M, coastal development authority president Mattaru Rathnaker Hegde, Kaup Vidhana Sabha MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Mysuru Electrical Industries Private Limited president Udaya Kumar Shetty, zilla panchayat chief executive Prasanna H, additional deputy commissioner Veena, assistant commissioner Raju K and district SP Siddalingappa T were present.
