Mangaluru, Aug 23: The parish pastoral parishad members of Guardian Angel Church, Angelore organised a Konkani singing competition in the Golden Jubilee memorial hall on August 21.
The singing competition included solo (male and female) duet (male and female) and mixed duet for children (5 to 11 years), adolescents (12 to 18 years), young adults (19 to 30 years) and above 30 years and for couples.
The programme commenced with introductory note by Renita Menezes. Reema Sequeira read out the rules for the competition. Fr William Menezes, parish priest, Fr Lawrence Cutinha assistant parish priest, Noel Pinto vice president, Lolina D'Souza secretary of the parish pastoral Council, Roshan Patrao in charge of 21 commission, Felix Moras and Precilla Sequeira the organisers of the event were the dignitaries on the dais.
The programme commenced with a prayer song. Precilla Sequeira welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries on the dais inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Fr William Menezes in his inaugural speech congratulated the parishioners for taking active part in the singing competition. Singing always keeps the heart and mind enthusiastic and wished the competition and participants all success.
Fr Shawn Rodrigues, Velita Lobo and Silvia Fernandes were the judges for the competition. Silvia on behalf of the judges congratulated all the participants and appreciated the singing. The winners in each category were awarded the prizes by Fr William Menezes, Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Noel Pinto vice president and Lolina D'Souza secretary of the parish pastoral Council respectively. The judges were also felicitated. The YCS of Anjelore unit entertained the audience with their thrilling dance performance at the end.
The programme was compered by Kim Noronha and the vote of thanks was proposed by Felix Moras parish council member. Nearly 70 members took part in the singing competition in various categories.
