Bantwal: Rally by foot held under leadership of former minister Ramanath Rai

Bantwal, Aug 23: A rally by foot was held on the eve of 75th Independence Day by Bantwal and Panemangalore Block Congress Committee under the leadership of former minister Ramanath Rai.

Udaya Kumar Irvathur set in motion the rally at Manihalla junction. He said that the country is progressing in stages. Besides Gandhiji and Nehru, several people from Bantwal also had fought for the freedom of the country, he added.

Former minister Ramanath Rai said that the rally was held to commemorate the sacrifices of the freedom fighters.

KPCC chief secretary Rakshit Shivaram, leaders of Congress, its youth and women's unit workers were present.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai visited the residence of former minister Janardhan Poojary during the rally. Poojary accepted the national flag and conveyed his best wishes.

Block Congress president Baby Kunder, Sudeep Kumar Shetty, leaders Rakshit Shivaram, Vasu Poojary Loretto, Shabbir Siddakatte and Appi were present.
