KCA's Premier Function: The Mood Mangalorean, a Roaring Success!

Media Release

Bengaluru, Aug 31:KCA (Kanara Catholic Association), the oldest Mangalorean Association , in Bangalore had its 'Mood Mangalorean' Function at the Catholic Club on Saturday the 27th of August under the Aegis of its dynamic President Hilma Roach. The rain gods proved troublesome initially, with heavy downpours that looked threatening. However, the amazing attitude of the crowd at Catholic Club which is always sporting and shows with elan at overcoming any type of weather , rose to the occasion with great participation and enthusiasm. The 1,350 strong crowd converted the initial part of the programme into a semi-rain dance with enormous numbers , dancing on the floor irrespective of the weather.

The inclement weather notwithstanding , the highly impressive cultural programmes were conducted to great appreciation and cheer. An amazing cultural programme choreographed by Daniel Clifford and Christina Roach , was the highlight of the evening with the beautiful and talented dancers - Reshma Cutinho, Shoba Rasquinha, Helen Menezes, Kavitha Rego, Reena Fernandes, Andria Pinto, Rohini D’Silva, Ivy Menezes, Reena Serrao, Grace Lobo, Annette Menezes, Brian Rego and Valerian D’souza giving their time and effort to a superb performance to ensure that 'Mood Mangalorean' impressed all the people present , as a memorable one. This was particularly important in a post covid period where people would love to attend functions like these , which offer so much cheer, talent and camaraderie to the benefit of all, which is after all the remit of KCA for its community!

The decor, sponsored by Hilma Roach was startling in its impressionable vividness and the ambience created by the crowd and ironically the initial showers , offered a surreal experience which was enjoyed by all. The cultural programme participants were also beautifully presented in majestic and bright costumes which lent a level of professionalism and excellence that matched the overall impressive organisation of the Mood Mangalorean by KCA.

The excellent Goan Band - The Tidal wave rocked the crowd with sterling and well recognised numbers and Mangalorean Delicacies were provided by the Mangalorean Restaurant by Carol and the Konkan Restaurant by Neil. During the intermittent rain, no time was wasted and Daniella Rebello, 16 years of age, sang ‘Claudia a musical performance to great appreciation by the crowd. Mood Mangalorean was a great success in no less part due to the tiring efforts of the KCA committee under the President Hilma Roach and generous sponsorships by our own dedicated Mangaloreans - Austin Roach, Nigel Colaco, Bertha Fernandes, Adrian D’Souza, Jeffrey Rebello and Marjorie Texeira, whose contributions were highly appreciated.

Mood Mangalorean now moves into 2023 with a hard act to follow!
