Mangalore, Nov 13: Tuesday November 12 was a curious day for Mangaloreans all over, as Aysha Banu from Panjimogeru was arrested for allegedly supplying money to the terror suspects who carried out the recent Patna blasts. After a leading Kannada daily exposed the story, almost all the major newspapers, television channels and web portals extensively carried the news.
In a twist to the story, another leading Kannada daily from Mangalore has revealed that there is no connection between Aysha's arrest and Patna bomb blasts.
The newspaper claims that Bihar's Lakhisarai SP Rajiv Mishra has clarified that Aysha Banu was arrested not in connection with Patna bomb blasts, but for her involvement in a financial scam in Bihar. The SP said that Banu has been arrested and will be taken to Bihar for further interrogation.
The newspaper also claims that IGP (Western Range) Pratap Reddy has confirmed that he has no information about any investigation taking place about Patna blast case in Mangalore. No investigation agencies have contacted him, but on the other hand, there is no need for any investigation agency to contact him unless his assistance is required.
Dr K V Jagadish, DCP for law and order in Mangalore has not taken the newspaper report on Aysha seriously as no agency has contacted Mangalore police regarding Aysha's case.
At this moment no authentic information is available from official sources. It would be interesting to see on what charges Aysha is booked by the Bihar police.
