Allen C A Pereira Appointed Managing Director of Bank of Maharashtra

New Delhi, Jun 5: Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has appointed Allen C A Pereira, hitherto functioning as the executive director of Oriental Bank of Commerce, as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Bank of Maharashtra.
Pereira, who took over as the executive director of Oriental Bank of Commerce on March 3, 2006, will become CMD of Bank of Maharashtra from the date he takes charge of the new assignment, and function in that capacity till 30.09.2010, the date of his retirement, or till further orders, a release from the RBI said.
Pereira joined Syndicate Bank as an officer in the Industrial Relations department. He worked as branch manager, chief manager and as assistant general manager in New Delhi, in that bank, before becoming general manager in charge of planning, development and marketting wing of the bank. He also had worked as the circle head in Syndicate in New Delhi. He functioned as general manaager in charge of the Personnel and Service department at the head office of the bank since November 1, 2003.
Pereira also had made valuable contributions to Indian Banks Association, in the capacity of Advisor in Personnel and Industrial Relations matters. He also worked as secretary and chief executive officer in the sports board, policy drafting committee etc., of Indian Banks Association. Pereira deserves full credit for initiating 'Banking Olympiad' for the bank employees in the year 2002.
Pereira has visited several foreign countries as a representative of Syndicate Bank with regard to industrial relations. He also had taken part in the International Banking Conference organised at Niagara.
