Bengaluru, Dec 26: JD(S) national spokesperson Ramesh Babu, has raised objection to mention made about the party's national president H D Deve Gowda, in books written by former chief minister of Karnataka, S M Krishna.

In his works, 'Smriti Vahini' and 'Bhavishya Darshana', Krishna has mentioned that former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, along with former chief minister S R Bommai, had contemplated to join the Congress in the eighties.

In a tweet, he said that the above statement of Krishna in his biography has to be viewed from the angle of academic interest. "Congress, which initially was founded to launch movements against the then government, happens to be the mother for several parties which took birth in later years. S M Krishna too was with Praja Socialist Party (PSP) before joining the Congress, and he was not a Congressman originally," he commented.

He also said that biographies should provide proper information and become leading lights for the people. "Biographies should not be used to hide information. When Krishna was the chief minister in 2004, after the Congress tasted defeat, he waited at the doorsteps of Deve Gowda for becoming chief minister again," he said.

JD(S) leader Y S V Dutta, said that the information provided in Krishna's book about Deve Gowda willing to join the Congress is false. He said that Deve Gowda personally called him over phone to give this information. "Deve Gowda clarified that after the Congress underwent vertical split, a senior leader of the Indira Congress had invited Gowda for a walk in the Cubbon Park, and during this time, he had extended an invitation to him to join the Congress. But Gowda had declined the invitation then," he clarified.
