Bengaluru, Apr 4: In a significant development for pre-university education in Karnataka, the Government has assured the introduction of coaching and board-integrated curricular activities in the near future.
This assurance was given during a meeting held at the office of Rashmi Mahesh, principal secretary, school education department, Bengaluru, with office-bearers of the Karnataka Unaided PU College Management Association (KUPMA). The principal secretary stated that detailed guidelines for implementing the integrated curriculum will be notified by the Pre-University Education Department.


The meeting also featured an in-depth discussion on the proposed implementation of transfer certificates via DigiLocker. It was decided that the department will take a considered approach after evaluating the potential benefits and operational challenges of the system.
To strengthen collaboration, the school education (pre-university) department has proposed quarterly review meetings with KUPMA, to be held under the chairmanship of the director. These meetings aim to facilitate regular dialogue on academic and administrative issues, enabling timely and effective decision-making.
A key proposal discussed was the possibility of introducing competitive examination coaching in government PU colleges in collaboration with KUPMA, thereby enhancing academic opportunities for students across the state.
KUPMA representatives also urged the government to take strict action against ‘dummy colleges’, highlighting concerns about academic integrity and student welfare.
On the issue of tuition fees in private unaided PU colleges, it was discussed that a structured formula will be introduced soon in accordance with the provisions of the Karnataka Education Act, ensuring clarity and regulatory alignment within the pre-university system.
The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, involved detailed deliberations on multiple proposed reforms in the education sector.
