Beltangady: Ujire boy kidnappers remanded to ten-day police custody

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Dec 21: Relating to the kidnap of a boy from Ujire, Anubhav, six persons who have been identified as having been involved with this crime, were produced in the court on Sunday December 20 whereupon they were remanded to ten days police custody. The boy and his parents had reached home on Saturday.

The police have now intensified their search for the main conspirator who stage managed the abduction. The police have already said that a person who is well-known to Bijoy was the criminal behind this abduction. Once he is arrested, the police hope to be able to get information about all the angles of the kidnap.

Unsubstantiated sources claimed that Bijoy had a debt of about Rs 1.3 crore to the person who planned the abduction. The police are also checking facts on this information. The abductor is from Hassan district and he knows the family of Bijoy very well, it was revealed during the investigation. The fact that the kidnappers insisted on being paid in the form of bitcoins gave rise to suspicion about the involvement of bitcoin dealings in the entire abduction episode. The police have taken into custody Bijoy's mobile phone and have been checking his business dealings.

Bantwal deputy superintendent of police Valentine D'Souza, police circle inspector Sandesh P G and sub-inspector Nandakumar, are leading the interrogation and hope to bring out the entire gamut of the abduction drama in a couple of days. The accused are likely to be led to Kolar again for inquest proceedings.

The boy said that he was told by the strangers that they were friends of his father and that they wanted to give him a surprise by taking him away. He believed in them. Mother of the boy, Sarita, while thanking the police for their quick response and the people of the area who gave vital information, said that there is a need to keep watch on the movements of the children and also teach them the techniques of self-defence.

Thank and praise God, and as well the Police personnel, for their quick
detection work and for apprehending the culprits. We should now hope
the judiciary too is swift in action.

Keeping a watch on children below the age of 18 is parent's responsibility.

Teaching self defense, etc. does not work in today's world, where criminals
can even hack a senior police man in broad day light! As long as criminals
are not eliminated as soon as they are caught, crime will continue unabated.
