Mangaluru: Pedestrian hit by lorry near Talapady toll gate, dies

Mangaluru, Nov 30: A pedestrian died on the spot on the NH-66 near the Talapady toll gate when a lorry hit him on Monday.

The deceased is identified as Vasanth Kumar Rai (55), a resident of Adooru of Mulleri.

Following the accident, Vasanth Kumar Rai suffered severe head injury and was rushed to a hospital by the toll gate personnel in an ambulance. He died on the way to the hospital.

Mangaluru traffic police have seized the lorry and have registered a case against its driver.

Only way to deter rash driving of commercial vehicles is life ban from driving if convicted of causing death due to own fault... RIP to the departed soul...
