Mangaluru, Nov 30: Mangala Group of Institutes have been providing free admissions for 25 to 30 students belonging to the Siddi community pursuing their para medical and nursing colleges every year since 2004 due to social concern and far sightedness of the head of Mangala charitable trust Dr Ganapathi P.
Out of 20 students who have received free admission this year, three students belong to the Siddi community.
Anil Kumar, public relations officer of the institute has visited various villages and selected the students with the cooperation of Bhasker Siddi, the personal assistant of Yellapura MLC Shantaram Siddi.
Nearly 50,000 people from the Siddi community are residing in India. About 30% of them are staying in Karnataka.
Lekhana, Lalita and Poornima are the three girls from Yellapura are studying at Mangala educational institutes.
Students from various states in the country have obtained free education at Mangala institute. 345 of such students have secured lucrative jobs in India and abroad.
